Straight 03:39
Straight © 2015 Words & Music, Mick Byrd I don’t like honey in my whiskey. If I’m gonna drink I wanna feel the burn. It’s not good when it goes down too easy. A man oughta get just what he earns. Give it to me straight. Give it to me real. Don’t want to guess the way you feel. Don’t mess around till it’s too late. Give it to me hard. Give it to me true. Tell me everything inside of you. I’m not a patient man and I can’t wait. I like my love like my whiskey. Give it to me straight. Don’t want a lime in my cold one. I ain’t lost nothin’ in Mexico. A beer ain’t meant to be a fruit cocktail. If you don’t like the taste leave it alone. I like my love like my whiskey. Give it to me straight. Give it to me straight.

Solid Country Gold © 2014 Words & Music, Mick Byrd You and me on a first date, I’d never been kissed like that. I remember you leaned in close. Knocked off my baseball cap. We watched the river runnin’ slow by the light of the radio. We heard George Jones say he stopped lovin’ her today but you know he never did. We hung on every line of “Strawberry Wine” and lived through every word she said. The greatest stories ever told - they were Solid Country Gold. Solid Country Gold. Didn’t take long for love to bloom. I knew for sure by the spring. Seemed like I pawned half of everything I owned, just to buy that wedding ring. I’d never known such happiness, as the moment you said, “Yes!” That little country church looked good, under the trees back in the woods. On a sunny day in fall. Your sisters must have spent hours, decoratin’ with all those flowers. You shined the brightest of them all. I put on the sweetest hand I’ll ever hold, a ring of Solid Country Gold. Fifty years have passed since that day - kids and grandkids - we’ve been blessed along the way. There’s never a regret. Tomorrow just might be the best day yet. Every sunset is a glory to behold made of Solid Country Gold. Solid Country Gold. Solid Country Gold. Solid Country Gold.

Dead End Blues © 2015 Words & Music, Mick Byrd I watch the sun set on the hill. I’d like to leave this town but you know I never will. It seems like bad things come in twos. My baby’s gone. I got the dead end blues. Got the dead end blues. When the coal train comes it shakes the ground. The whistle when it blows makes a mournful sound. And the rails tap out no good news. My baby’s gone. I got the dead end blues. In the middle of nowhere, goin’ nowhere fast, Baby took the last bus to Nashville. She ain’t comin’ back - naw, naw. Big River’s runnin’ black beneath this bridge. And I’m holdin’ on with both hands to the edge. When the next train comes, I’ve got to choose. My baby’s gone. I’ve got the dead end blues. Got the dead end blues. Got the dead end blues.

John Deere 03:09
John Deere © 2016 Words & Music, Mick Byrd She left me a note said, “You’re out of luck.” She took my credit card and my truck. It’s Saturday night and I need a beer. So I’m drivin’ to town on this John damn Deere. Didn’t know she was leavin’ til she went. She didn’t give me a clue - not even a hint. But her note made the way she felt perfectly clear. So I’m drivin’ to town on this John damn Deere. I happened on my truck halfway to town. She had the radio blarin’ and the windows rolled down. Sideways on the road so I couldn’t pass. She said, “ Honey, you know I never check the gas.” I said, “Girl, I hope it’s not too late.” She said, “Take me to town and we’ll negotiate. But, for now, you climb on the back and watch me steer.” So, I’m ridin’ to town on this John damn Deere. So, I’m ridin’ to town on this John damn Deere.

Damaged Goods © 2017 Words & Music, Mick Byrd My old coffee cup is cracked and it’s worn. It feels good in my hands in the early morn. Now it’s faded - it used to be bright blue. But I don’t feel the need for anything new. I’ll love you for a lifetime. I hope it’s understood. I’ll give you all that I am if you don’t mind damaged goods. The years pass quickly now - my hair has all turned gray. My thoughts wander back in the day. My joys are many - my regrets are few. My clearest thoughts are always thoughts of you. I’ll love you for a lifetime. I hope it’s understood. I’ll give you all that I am if you don’t mind damaged goods. I’ll give you all that I am if you don’t mind damaged goods.

Moline 03:45
Moline © 2016 Words & Music, Mick Byrd The wind cuts like a dagger Down the neck of this southern boy. It might be spring in Alabama. But it’s cold as hell in Illinois. I’m not sayin’ I’m not lonely. I’m nine-hundred miles away from home. I’m gonna leave your smile untouched And call my woman on the phone. Just leave me with this bottle Before I change the way I feel. ‘Cause You’re not my baby And Moline ain’t Mobile. Moline ain’t Mobile. Tomorrow’s show is in Chicago. Tonight I’m wastin’ time in this old bar. I’m on the road until September. I can feel your eyes from where you are. Just leave me with this bottle Before I change the way I feel. ‘Cause you’re not my baby And Moline ain’t Mobile. Moline ain’t Mobile. Moline ain’t Mobile. Moline

Ghost 04:06
Ghost © 2016 Words & Music, Mick Byrd Another whiskey anthem rolls like tears off my pen. I swore today would be different but here I am just missing you again. In another glass or two I’ll imagine a hint of your perfume. Heartache hits me like a hammer from every lonely corner of this room. The burn from the bottle can’t soothe the trouble in my soul. Tonight I’ll lie in your bed - the freight train in my head out of control. My hands reach out for comfort. They don’t make anything that strong. Your ghost is all that I’ve got left when the whiskey is gone. You always loved John Denver. “Sunshine On My Shoulders” made you cry. I didn’t know the tune back then, now I sing every word of “Rocky Mountain High.” The songs were sweet and pure like you. That much I understood. Now the country roads that took him home have taken you away for good. The burn from the bottle can’t soothe the trouble in my soul. Tonight I’ll lie in your bed - the freight train in my head out of control. My hands reach out for comfort. They don’t make anything that strong. Your ghost is all that I’ve got left when the whiskey is gone. Your ghost is all that I’ve got left when the whiskey is gone.
